                 How Alcohol-Free Beer Is Prepared

Today the alcohol-free beer is gaining its popularity because of the similarity of the taste of regular beer. Some years ago, alcohol-free beers were created by boiling away the ethanol. However, this process destroyed the aromas and flavors in the beer. In recent years, many new procedures were introduced to create alcohol-free craft beers. Some of the techniques used in making alcohol-free beer are vacuum distillation or arrested fermentation. Some other methods include using fewer grains on low heat, or lesser than average. Because of all the new techniques, many breweries can create alcohol-free beers with various aromas and flavors.

Alcohol and alcohol-free beer have a similar process of brewing. Both the beers follow identical steps, such as boiling the wort and making a mash. And both the process uses blending in the fermentation and hops. However, the core difference is that most of the alcohol-free beers have to be heated, unlike regular beer. The heating of beer makes the alcohol in the beer evaporate. The evaporation of alcohol changes the taste of the beer. And to stop the taste from changing, several companies utilize a vacuum distilling process. The vacuum keeps the flavor of the beer intact when reducing the alcohol content.

Many companies and brewers also use a more widespread technique called reverse osmosis. The process helps send the beer through the filter. The filter has small holes that only some volatile acids, alcohol, and water can pass through. After the filtration, the alcohol is distilled from water mixture and alcohol using standard distillation. And it is mixed with various flavors, ingredients, and sugar syrup. Because of the reverse osmosis technique, the beer has a natural flavor, and it is stronger. Even though the technique takes more labor hours and equipment, it produces the best results.

After all the process, to make the alcohol-free beer similar to regular beer, most brewers inject carbon dioxide in the beer can, keg, or bottle. Some brewers even use extra sugar and starter yeast in the bottles to make the beer ferment and increase alcohol levels. Other than that, alcohol-free beer is the best option compared to other soft drinks. There are also many health benefits of alcohol-free beer. It is never too late to try and get healthier by drinking alcohol-free beer.
